Family Sponsorship

If you are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, and you recently got married, you can sponsor your spouse, common-law partner and dependent children to immigrate to Canada. Unlike sponsoring parents, there is no quota limit in sponsoring spouse and children. You can sponsor at any time in a year.

If you want to sponsor your parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada, you need to have sufficient income in Canada over the past 3 years. In addition, because of the overwhelming demand of sponsoring parent/grandparent, the program has limited quota each year. Sponsors need to express their interest to apply during the month of January. They can apply later after they are informed by the government that they are allowed to apply.
